A Programme for leadership development of local organizations and social entrepreneurs
What is LEAP+ ?
Spearheaded by the Netherlands development organization SNV, LEAP+ is a programme that offers a unique opportunity to leaders of local development organizations and social entrepreneurs (often referred to as Local Capacity Builders (LCBs)) who provide capacity development or business development support to enhance their leadership competencies.
The programme is focused on developing the participants’ business management skills which help them to develop sound business cases, lead a sustainable business, improve products and services that contribute to pro-poor development and increase access to basic services, employment opportunities and income.
Why this programme?
Success of any organization is dependent on it's leadership. Leaders have the primary responsibility to develop and organize relevant, effective and healthy organizations. In development organizations and social businesses, leaders have the added responsibility of balancing financial sustainability of the organization while addressing social issues. These challenges require specific knowledge, skills and attitudes, which the LEAP+ programme trains on.
How does it work?
Leap+ is a six-month programme which consists of two, one week long, face-to-face training workshop, with participants from different countries and regions, currently focusing on; Latin America, East, Southern and West Africa. After these training sessions, the participants undergo on job training, which is provided by senior SNV advisors. After the lapse of the six-month coaching period, a personalized coaching session with a professional and independent coach is offered once in a month .Beyond personalized coaching, participants also depend on peer to peer learning.
